Shehla Chatoor Eid Collection 2017-18

After the tremendous response to the debut Luxury Lawn collection last year (SHEHLA LUXURY LAWN S/S 16), Shehla's brand - whose style ethos has become synonymous with surefire sophistication, meticulous attention to design detail and high-voltage glamour - has raised the ante even further with Shehla Chatoor Couture Lawn SS'17 for SHARIQ TEXTILES with its heady mix of opulent Old World charm and contemporary allure.

For designer, this luxury eid collection is reflective of the indubitable influence of Islamic history on the cultural and artistic milieu of the Mediterranean, with the creative and design process behind the prints buoyed by Shehla's in-depth research into the confluence of myriad other cultural inspirations, including Persian architecture and ceramics; Italian Petra Dura and the culminating, Arab-influenced and fully evolved Portuguese Azulejo; a form of traditionally painted tin-glazed ceramic tile-work whose vibrant patterns and historical images cover most of Portugal’s streets, from humble houses to pristine palaces.

For a truly global fashion editorial look and feel to the Luxury Lawn 2017 by Shariq, Shehla was delighted to collaborate with three stunning international fashion models; including IMG girl Alyssah Ali from New York; Magda Laguinge from London and Claudia Dumitru from Milan respectively, who were captured in delightful motion by übertalented award-winning Portuguese photographer Mario Principe amidst the scenic and architecturally rich milieu of Lisbon and Porto that afforded myriad idyllic and stunning backdrops to the exquisite Lawn prints, including the picturesque and monumental Se do Porto, Cappella Das Almas, etc.

Each of the 10 designs with two colour-ways in the Shehla Chatoor Lawn Eid 2017 Collection is created using the most sumptuous fabric and elevated with even more carefully articulated and intricate designs and a bolder colour palette including deep amethyst, burnt sienna and vibrant sunset hues. Versatility, adaptability and comfort are also key this season with embroidered accents in the form of separate über-feminine pure chamois silk borders that can be optionally used on bodices, sleeves, hems and on slim pants - rendering the latter into a stylish and versatile separate - or eschewed and used on a different ensemble, offering limitless style options which translate effortlessly from daytime to evening soirees. Special attention has also been proffered to the luxurious and vibrant pure silk dupattas which can also be easily transposed into contemporary kimono or kaftan style configurations.

The designer envisioned this cross-generational collection with a broad stroke, rendering it ideal for the young fashion-forward fashionista; the refined society denizen and the stay-at-home mother; all beautiful, dynamic and special in their own ways.
